In continuation of Mr. Southorn's confidential
despatch of 2nd August, 1928, on the subject of wireless
communication between this Colony and Yunnanfu, I have the
honour to inform Your Lordship that I have authorised a
reduction as from 1st December in the rates charged to the
public to 40 cents a word for foreign and Chinese code and
20 cents a word plain Chinese, with a further charge of 10 cents and 5 cents when branch radio offices are opened in
other parts of the province of Yunnan; the charges to be in
Hong Kong currency in each case. No competition with the cable companies is involved.
